Lock Down Art
This is my art that I made in Lock Down. When you look at the first picture it just looks like a ball with eyes but when you look at the second picture it is a monster with sharp teeth and blood dripping off them.

Letter To My Parents About Refugees😃
Refugee’s
Dear Parents, this year my reading group has been reading a book called Refugee, it is a very good book and it can tell you about the lives of a refugee.
Why Do People Become Refugees
People become refugees because they lived in a country and didn’t like it there because of bombing or shooting or anything like that. So they move to a country that is better than theirs. They might get to a different country by building a boat or saving up money to get a trip by a public boat. They might travel for days just to get somewhere safe where there is no bombing and shooting.
Why Should We Help Refugees
We should help refugees because they have the same rights as us but people treat them differently because of their background in the past. Just think of how it would feel if you were treated differently just because you lived in a poorer country and you were frightened of bombings and people shooting one of your friends.
What Countries Do NZ Refugees Come From
NZ refugees usually come from Iraq, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iran, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Sudan, Afghanistan, Colombia and Burma. Many refugees live in Wellington where there are many cultures.
What Local Organisations Do We Have To Help
New Zealand has lots of places for refugees to get stuff from that is not too expensive. For example The Salvation Army and any Op shop.
What Can We Do To Help
We could put more old clothes into The Salvation Army and stores like that. We could try and put more effort into getting nice places for them to live and stay for the night.
How Can Refugees Help Us
Refugees can help us by understanding their life before they moved to a new country. They can help us understand what they went through.

Polish Refugee Story!
1943
One day there was a Polish girl called Maja. She lived on a farm in Poland. Every morning she would go out to her family’s paddock to check on her cows. One morning Maja woke up and she heard a BOOM! She quickly ran outside to see what happened. She gasped there was smoke filling the sky. There must of been a bomb because she could still hear the plane flying high up in the sky. She could see that her shed had been hit by the bomb. Her Mum and Dad rushed out to see what had happened. Her Mum’s name is Lena and her Dad's name is Caspian. Mum said this is the last straw we have to get out of here fast we need to go somewhere safe where there is no bombing or conflict.
1944
It has been a whole year now Maja and her parents have started a new life in Wellington, New Zealand. Maja is trying to hide it but she is missing her old home in Poland. She doesn't want her parents to worry about her so she tries to keep her feelings in. Maja has a new school. It has a court, playground and a pool. In the summer time they get to go into the pool and learn how to swim. Maja loves swimming so much. Maja has got 3 new friends. Her friends names are Maddison, Grace and Jade. Maddison is a tall person with long blonde/brown hair. She is very kind and funny. Grace is just a bit shorter than Maddison. She has long brown hair and she is a very pretty, funny and smart person. Jade is shorter than Maja. Jade has got dark brown hair. Her hair goes down to the bottom of her ribs but she is a funny, smart and nice fast person. Maja’s parents have got new jobs. Majas Mum works for the city council. And her Dad is a physio. Every night Maja would think about her friends back in Poland. She would wonder if she would ever see her old friends again. Thinking about this made her sad. She would have damp spots on her pillow from tears rolling out of her eyes off her cheeks and then onto her pillow. Maja has a cat called Smokey. Smokey is a grey and black tabby cat. Smokey loves to be scratched behind her ears and under her chin and she eats cat food and fish. One morning Maja woke up and then Smokey jumped up onto her bed. Smokey was rubbing her head on Maja as if she was trying to tell Maja that she has no food and she is hungry. Maja gets out of her bed and walks to Smokeys food bowl in the kitchen. Maja loads the food into the bowl as if she was a digger loading the dirt into the back of a dump truck. Smokey sprints to her bowl and gobbles up all her food and then waits for another scoop. Maja was not going to give her another scoop because she knows that she is going to do the same thing again. Smokey is like a bulldozer, she loads all the food at once. She thinks that she will miss out on something if she doesn't be quick. After she takes care of Smokey she walks back to her room and gets changed into her school uniform. Her school uniform is a light blue top and a black and dark blue scort. She puts on her shoes and gets her Chromebook. She packed her lunch. Maja always puts lots of good healthy food in there and sometimes she sneaks some unhealthy food in her lunchbox. To Be Continued!!!Wednesday, 9 June 2021

Waitangi Day 2021
This year my class has been learning about the Treaty Of Waitangi. The Treaty Of Waitangi is an agreement between the Maori and the British. One day the British went on to the Maoris land and the Maori did not like that. So they made a treaty so they would stop fighting. The problems were that the Maori could not read English and the British could not read Maori. So the Maori did not know that they were actually giving the British more power over the land.
