Stick Insects.

Stick insects

Stick insects are very social insects. They look like sticks. It is very hard to tell the difference between a stick and a stick insect. They have a very good skill of being able to camouflage.

 Habitat
 Stick insects are very good at camouflaging so they live in places where they can camouflage such as bush or Rata trees. some species live in a grassland.

 Features
 Stick insects can get about 5-6cm long. Nymphs eat their own moulted skin after they shed. Stick insects look like tiny twigs walking. Stick insects have a fork looking claw on each of their six legs. 

Food And Sleep
 Stick insects eat pollen cones. New Zealand stick insects eat raspberries, blackberrys and rose. Stick insects do not eat each other. They also eat a range of native plants rata or pohutukawa trees.

 Colour And Shape
 Stick insects are found in a few colors such as green brown and a reddish brownish color. Stick insects shapes are all different some look like a cylinder.

 Predators
 Stick insects predators are spiders, reptiles, rodents and birds. Stick insects are not safe from bats, they are very dangerous around stick insects.

 That is why stick insect are very very amazing creatures to the world and the living plants.
